Summary

China’s Interim Measures for the Management of Generative Artificial Intelligence Services created a binding framework for public-facing generative AI services covering text, image, audio, and video outputs. The measures required services to align with Socialist Core Values and prohibited content affecting state security, social stability, or discrimination. Providers with public opinion or social mobilisation capacity were required to complete security self-assessments and algorithm registration. The framework also placed duties on providers to ensure the legality, intellectual property integrity, and authenticity of training data.
