Summary
UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/78/265 was the first global consensus resolution on artificial intelligence adopted by the General Assembly. Led by the United States and co-sponsored by more than 120 countries, including China, it focused on safe, secure, and trustworthy AI systems for sustainable development. The resolution emphasised equitable access to AI benefits, capacity-building, digital infrastructure, and AI literacy in developing countries. It also stated that human rights protected offline should be protected online and across the AI lifecycle.
